A collection of short original compositions for found sounds, spoken word, electronic treatments and collages. Track titles, atmosphere and soul are inspired by books and poetry readings to the extent that the balance between electronic and book sources is integral to the Musique Isotype project. [L.F.]

[Completely new sounds, unlike anything we've ever broadcasted in Perdidos en el Espacios.]

Inpartmaint Inc., Tokyo, Japan:
[In this music, the unreal merges into the real through drifting sequences of electronic sounds. Sound sources include: basket ball, dulcimer, birds singing, Arabian TV… The historical experimental music and literature so admired by the artist mingle into the uneasy excitement of musique concrete. Strange and bizarre music, yet also tender and playful, and ultimately quite fascinating.]

MiC Music Portal, Greece:
[Musique Isotype is a highly experimental electronic album that combines music, literature and typography. All compositions are excellent [κορυφαίες] and my preference for The Elocutionist, L'Inonie and Rêves De Coumbite tracks is completely arbitrary.]

Vital Weekly #1043, Nijmegen, The Netherlands:
“Streams of concrete sounds [...] fed through a bunch of synthesizers as it sounds at times pretty much like a modular synthesizer. The whole approach sounds like musique concrete anyway, with slowly forming sound collages. Fairon takes his time to create his collages and sometimes they seem to consist of just a few sounds, put on longer loops and some of these with just a few sounds.”

Boomkat, UK:
“Wonderfully surreal experimental electronic and collage recordings by Laurent Fairon, prone to beguile at every turn. If you like the sound of these we’d thoroughly recommend dipping into Fairon’s Tellus archive at UbuWeb and his Continuumixes online, too.”

Careful Catalog (Dan Gilmore, Queens, NY):
“Laurent Fairon, of Continuo’s Weblog fame, gives us a taste of his curatorial prowess, playing matchmaker for some strange bedfellows of found sounds. The results of these crude lab tests plays like negative space heavy musique concrète, which staunchly refuses to pander or do tricks. [...] Musique Isotype is also given to highlighting and voraciously turning out individual sounds like a Rubik’s cube, flicking at them like a spring door stop—a style similar to the classics of Anne Gillis with an archaeological twist. [...] A total head-scratcher of ADD in slow motion.”
